Mosaic (#3)

‘Mosaic (#3’) is the final piece in a series that is strongly influenced by Paul Klee. After completing two smaller versions see (Mosaic 1 & 2),  I set the same concept to larger format.

The pastel tones of the first two Mosaics are replaced with somewhat stronger coloration, a decision influenced by the larger scale of this surface.  The mosaic pattern of colored shapes works together to create a visual rhythm and harmony. The musical instruments and notation are not foreground features as in many other of my paintings; they are merely part of the visual soundscape.
