I am a formally trained pianist/composer/arranger/producer and self- taught painter based in Toronto.
In 2003, when I put my first brush to canvas, I instantly fell in love with the medium. The first few paintings were small, abstract decor pieces which quickly evolved into my exploring painting through a subject that I know very well; music.
My first 100 pieces were focused almost exclusively on keyboards and pianos. These simple graphics were the constants around which I began to develop a painting vocabulary and aesthetic. I have since expanded the subject themes to include other musical instruments (guitars, violins, cellos, woodwinds, percussion and brass), as well as dancers, instrumentalists, notation and music graphics. I occasionally venture outside musical territory into text based, portrait, Valentine themed subjects and sculpture and I continue to expand into new territories, including non representational work.
To view the work, scroll down the home page or use the ‘select category’ drop down list to choose a specific sub-category of interest. The thumbnails display in columns; on desktops, I suggest viewing this site with a screen size setting allowing for 4 or 5 columns.
Each painting is accompanied by my commentary. Your feedback is encouraged and appreciated.
