Trio Session – Studio 6 (Music Room #4)

Trio Session – Studio 6 is the final and largest of the Music Room series.

Inspired by the recording setup of a jazz recording date on which I played piano in Studio 6 at Technicolor Studios in Toronto.

As in Music Room #2, this is a bird’s eye view bordered by four walls, the left wall with the window being adjacent to the mixing room where the producer and engineer reside. The line up for this session was piano, upright bass and drums, the music recorded that day was a bossa nova composition I was commissioned to compose.

This is the fourth and final four paintings in the Music Room Series. This series of music rooms was the culmination of my experimenting with masking as a technique, after which I largely abandoned extreme straight lines and edges, favoring free hand applications of brush stroked outlines.
