Favorite Beer Spot: Mill Street Brewery

Mill St was a new microbrewery on the scene that managed to create a heritage and a legend for their brand with the help of a great graphic logo and this 1930s inspired track.

Downtown on Mill St
Where the music’s sweet
And the drummer’s drummin’ to a different beat
In a little red building where the way they played
Was the latest news.
And that was the birth of the Mill St Brews
The Mill St Brews

Mm-Mm-Mill St
Mm-Mm-Mill St
Mm-Mm
It’s so hard to choose
That’s why we call them
The Mill St Brews

Favorite Campaign: Home & Rural Appliances

This is the original version of a pool that spawned 12 musical variations.

What do you do when asked to write a jingle for a brand name that is hard to pronounce and harder to sing? You turn that liability into an asset by poking a little fun at oneself.
Music, lyrics and copy by Thinkmusic – Asher Ettinger & Tony Kosinec, sung and voiced by Tony Kosinec,

Inspired by Homer Simpson.

If you want appliances
The specialist with the low low price
Just say that name that’s hard to say
It’s Home & rrrrr?? Appliances
That’s
Home And Rural Appliances

Favorite Comedy Music Spot: Yak Communications

It’s not everyday you get to use the word ‘bamboozle’ in a tune. Here’s how to insert a tickle or two into an otherwise hard sell message where the mnemonic device is the brand’s name.

Music & lyrics by Asher Ettinger, Tony Kosinec & Sonny Stone. Vocal by Tony Kosinec. Produced by Thinkmusic.

I Yak all day, I hardly pay
These guys are just so nice, you see
I yak and yak no stopping me
I can’t believe it’s a phone company

Yak Yak Yak Yak

No minimums, no access fees
No contracts ‘cause it’s contract free
These folks did not bamboozle me
I can’t believe it’s a phone company

Long distance and the internet
Home phone and cell and better yet
The greatest deal you’ll ever get
This can’t be real,
Some one pinch me.
I can’t believe it’s a phone company

It’s just so cheap, I love the rates
So I don’t have to be Bill Gates
I call them up – they’re open late
I need some help- I never wait
They’re always there, they aim to please
You can’t go wrong with guys like these
I can’t believe it’s a phone company

Yak Yak Yak Yak…..

Favorite Sex Store Spot: Stag Shop

This was too much fun to write. Here’s the lyric.

Lube-a-doo-ba-doo
Good vibration
Add a little spice
Or a new sensation
Super duper satisfy your
Inclinations
Bring a little Stag Shop
Home tonight (ohh!)

Maximize the fun
For one or two or more
Do it from your laptop
Or drop into the store
Anytime, Anywhere
Baby we can take you there
Add a little Spice (Ooh!)
Make It Extra Nice (Ahh!)
Bring a little Stag Shop home.(Ohhh!)

Favorite Radio Spot Lyric: Talking Book World

The best ideas come from the product itself. See lyric below.

This is a superb radio spot, expertly performed by Neil Donnel, with music & lyrics by Asher Ettinger and Tony Kosinec. Produced by Thinkmusic.

In the privacy of your head
When you’re driving out in your car
Or lying alone in bed
It really doesn’t matter where you are

You say you’re hearing voices
It probably is true
At Talking Book World
Our books are talking to you.

You can sit in heavy traffic
With a book that’s biographic
Cycle through the park
With a classic after dark
Take a bath for ages
Without moistening the pages
Add inches to your chest
While you’re learning to invest
Hear a mystery unfold
While your dentist drills for gold
Iron all your pants
To a tale of high romance

You can read a ton that would have taken years
It’s a lot of fun as long as you’ve got ears
You say you’re hearing voices,
It probably is true
At Talking Book World
Our books are talking to you.

Rent some, buy some
Listen to a few
At Talking Book World
Our books are talking to you.

Favorite Radio Production: Market Square

I love everything about this spot, it’s old school to the max. Recorded with the Boss Brass and TSO string players, a great vocal by Jeri Craden.

The job was simply to convey the excitement and energy of living in Toronto’s theater district. It was a smash success for the ad agency and developer.

Lawrence Ayliffe commissioned it, lyrics co-written with David Mills, Dave Balan engineered.
